The Cassano d’Adda Thermoelectric Power Plant is located on the banks of the Muzza Canal, in Lombardy.

It is a large plant that has undergone several changes in recent years in favor of the energy transition. Authorized in 2021 by the Ministry of Economic Development, the first aim was to improve the efficiency and environmental performance of the installation, paying particular attention to the reduction of nitrogen oxides, through an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system. In the same year, the Ministry of Ecological Transition authorized the installation of six internal combustion engines powered by natural gas.

A highly customized GMT for the Power Plant

For the Cassano d’Adda Thermoelectric Power Plant, we supplied our GMT, a medium voltage power line from 3150 to 17.5 kV particularly suitable for installations within Oil & Gas plants. For this work, to meet the various needs, we have carried out various customizations of the GMT:

  • CONDUCT SEGREGATED BETWEEN PHASES: a series of metal plates separates the sections of internal conductors, with a view to greater safety and to significantly reduce the risk of faults
  • CUSTOMIZED BOX: this is a box containing current transformers, useful for monitoring the line
  • EXTERNAL ALUMINUM HOUSING: dimensions chosen according to customer specifications, it is useful in cases like this, where the duct is installed outdoors
  • FIREWALL: made of fireproof material which, in the event of fire, prevents the passage of fire for 120 minutes.

In addition to all this, there are the specific characteristics of this duct, such as its resistance to earthquakes and corrosion, and to water, humidity and dust (thanks to its IP66 protection rating).

Furthermore, it is easy to install and does not require particular maintenance. Its range can reach 9000 A and its protection level reaches IP68 (immersions in water up to 5 meters deep in complete safety).

The Cassano d’Adda Thermoelectric Power Plant will be able to count on an efficient, safe and sustainable product, and we are proud to contribute to this important energy transition process.
